What We Recycle

Ruggiero’s recycling program is extensive, covering a wide range of materials. Here’s what you can recycle with us:

Paper

  • Newspapers and Inserts
  • Magazines and Catalogs (Glossy and Non-glossy)
  • Telephone Directories
  • Office and School Paper
  • Advertising and Junk Mail
  • Kraft Brown Paper Bags
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Paperboard/Chipboard (such as cereal, pasta, and clothing boxes)

Plastics

We accept all plastic bottles and containers marked with recycling symbols. This includes:

  • Plastic Beverage and Food Containers
  • Milk, Water, and Juice Bottles
  • Liquid Detergent, Fabric Softener, Bleach, and Shampoo Containers
  • Yogurt Cups
  • Vegetable Oil Bottles

Metals

  • Aluminum Cans
  • Steel or Tin Cans

Glass

  • Bottles and Jars Only (Brown, Green, and Clear Glass)

How to Prepare Your Recyclables

Proper preparation of recyclables is crucial for efficient recycling. Here are some guidelines:

  • Clean and Dry: Ensure all containers are rinsed and free of food residue. Wet or soiled items can contaminate other recyclables.
  • Flatten Boxes: Flattening cardboard and paperboard boxes saves space and facilitates easier transportation.
  • No Bagging: Do not bag recyclables in plastic bags, as they can disrupt the recycling process. Instead, place items loosely in your recycling bin.

Items We Do Not Recycle

It’s equally important to know what not to put in your recycling bin. Here are items that we cannot accept:

  • Wire Hangers (Return to your cleaners)
  • Mirrors, Lightbulbs, Window Glass, or Ceramics
  • Soiled Paper Fibers (Oily pizza boxes, paper napkins, etc.)
  • Batteries
  • Styrofoam, Wood, Plastic Film, Plastic Bags, Plastic Toys, or Diapers
  • Electronics
